Tom was a three-year varsity starter. He played offensive guard and linebacker on defense. In both his junior and senior seasons he started on both sides of the ball. He was named All Conference as a junior and again as a senior. As a senior he was also named first team All Macomb County.
Tom also played baseball as a freshman at Lake Shore.
