MacLean, Tim2009 All Star

Tim played for the St. Regis Raiders from grade five through eight. At Detroit Country Day he was a three-year starter for a program that made the playoffs in all three of his varsity seasons, and made it to the finals at Ford Field in both his junior and senior years. Tim played every position on the offensive line.

He was All State and as well as All Metro North for 2008 from both the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press. He was also All County by the Oakland Press, and received All Area by the Birmingham/Bloomfield Eccentric.

Tim was also an outstanding lacrosse player and served as Captain of the team in his senior year. He was on the Youth Board of Directors for Angel’s Place, an organization that serves persons with developmental disabilities. In 2007, he was nominated for the Governor of Michigan’s Volunteer of the Year award. For his efforts in this area, he was awarded the ARC of Oakland County’s Youth Volunteer of the Year award. Tim’s uncle, Tim MacLean (1981, Brother Rice), was on the very first high school All Star Football team in 1981. Tim’s uncle died tragically in 1982, but many see unmistakable similarities to the way Tim’s namesake played the game with the same passion as his uncle did so many years ago.

Tim’s Uncle, and Head Coach of Detroit Country Day, Dan MacLean said, “Tim has been a catalyst in building success for our program for three years. His rock solid play and leadership will be hard to replace.” Tim said, “How can I ever thank my family and friends, faculty, coaches and staff at Detroit Country Day for all you have given me? I am proud to represent Detroit Country Day, especially my Headmaster, Mr. Shilling, and past Headmaster, Mr. Hansen, and all my coaches and teammates and fellow students. Being a Country Day Yellow Jacket student/athlete will always be one of the greatest experiences of my life.”
