Shaye Brown is the son of Larry and Julie Brown. He has one brother, Nicholas. His extended family, including cousins, Crystal, Holly, Tyler, Kennedy, Katie, Evan and Megan, were his biggest fans! 

Shaye started playing football in eighth grade and did not take a snap as a quarterback until the first game his freshman year of high school. Shaye “showed dedication and determination as he worked on his game, both in the weight room and on the field, to win the starting quarterback position for Linden High School his junior year.” Shaye lead the team to it’s first-ever district championship in 2011. He was named a captain in 2012 and helped recapture the Flint Metro League Conference championship for Linden. Shaye was voted Most Improved Player in 2011 and Most Valuable Player in 2012. Shaye was the fifth Flint-area quarterback to throw for over 5,000 yards in his career. For his career, Shaye finished passing 413-641 for a 64% completion rate for 5,933 yards and 53 passing touchdowns and only 11 interceptions.

Shaye was also a three-year varsity basketball player and active in the Linden High School Varsity Club. He volunteered his time to tutor other students and coach in youth-league football and basketball camps. 

Shaye gave special thanks “to my mom, Julie, for all of the financial and moral support along with great life advice.” He thanked, “my dad, Larry, for always giving me confidence in myself. He thanked athletic trainer, Ken Hill, “for getting my body in the best shape of my life.” He thanked his high school coaches, “for the opportunity to play quarterback and all of my teammates who made my senior year so fun.” In his thanks he also included his teachers “who helped me achieve my great academics, my family who always supports me and, God for getting me through everything in my life.”
