Sam began his love of football at two weeks old, watching college games on his Dad’s knee in Florida. He started playing for Saline in seventh grade and finished his career as a two-year starting wide receiver on the varsity squad. During his senior year, Sam was credited with 41 receptions for 850 yards with 12 touchdowns and over 500 yards with 2 TDs returning punts and kick offs. He was honored as the team MVP as a receiver for his efforts in 2007 as well as winning the Ironman Award for 2006 and 2007. During his junior year Sam accounted for 420 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Sam was also a four-year letterman as a sprinter on the Saline varsity track team. As a sophomore he was a member of the Saline’s first D l state championship team and received All State honors.

Sam thanked his “entire family for their unwavering support over the years especially my Mom, Dad, two sisters and new brother-in-law Mark.” He thanked “all of the coaches that helped me over my career from seventh grade through senior year.” Lastly, he thanked all his teammates “whose hard work and dedication allowed me to reach this point.” Sam will continue his academic and football career at Grand Valley State University in Allendale.
