Phil started playing football in the sixth grade. He was a starting safety his sophomore year, where he had 72 tackles and 3 interceptions. His junior year he had 91 tackles, 13 tackles for loses, 5 interceptions and returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns, he also had 589 rushing yards on 77 carries. During Phil’s senior year he played mostly running back carrying the ball 157 times for 1,279 yards and 17 touchdowns. Defensively he had 59 tackles, 1 interception and 2 fumble recoveries. Phil was the Warriors MVP for both 2006 and 2007 football seasons.

Phil also played varsity basketball his junior and senior years.

Phil thanked his mom and dad for “always being so supportive and making sure I got to all of my games and practices.” He thanked all his coaches and especially Coach Christnagle “who went above and beyond pushing and encouraging me to be my best.” Lastly, he thanked his “biggest fans, Emily, Sean, Grandpa and Grandma Hallmark, Grandpa Rice and Lillian, Uncle Bruce, Aunt Tern and family, Uncle Ted, Aunt Vicki, Maggie and Travis and Tom, for coming to my games in all kinds of weather.” Phil will continue to play football on scholarship for Michigan Tech University.
