Assistant Coach Phil Jacobs
Adrian High School

Phil graduated from Adrian High School in 1988. He was a captain of the varsity football team having played for Hall of Fame and 1985 All Star Coach Ken Calhoun. Phil attended Eastern Michigan University and earned his teaching degree in English and physical education. While attending EMU, Phil played two years of baseball before being hired as an assistant football coach at Ypsilanti High School under Hall of Fame and 2000 All Star Coach Bill Kohn. Phil returned to his alma mater, Adrian High School, and joined Hall of Fame Coach Al Romano’s staff in1996, who now coaches with Phil.

    Coach Jacobs currently teaches English and physical education at Adrian High School where he has been the head coach for six seasons, completing his 20th year of coaching football. His teams have qualified for the playoffs in ’05, ’06, ’07, ’08, and ’09, and won a district championship in ’09. In addition, Coach Jacobs has guided Adrian to SEC titles in ’05, ’07, ’08, and ’09. He has a record of 45-17.

    Phil and his wife, Brandy, have been married for 13 years. Their children are Ryleigh (11) and Rhett (8). He said of his family, “I would have never been a successful coach without the tremendous support of my wife and family. Thank you for always standing by my side.” Phil added, “I thank the MHSFCA for the tremendous opportunity to coach in the 2010 All Star game. It is with great pride that I represent the outstanding tradition of players and coaches I have had the privilege of working with at Adrian High School.”
