Nicholas is the son of Stephen and Marga Keizer. He has two brothers, Jonathan and Benjamin.
Nicholas was a two-year starter for the Portage Northern Huskies where he played linebacker and tight-end as well as excelling in special teams. In his senior year, Nicholas earned academic honors with a 4.52 GPA, highest on the team.
During his high school career, Nicholas also played basketball all four years. As a senior he was voted team captain and was named to the all conference first team. He is a member of the National Honor Society and participated in many community service activities. Nicholas is also bi-lingual, graduating from a four year Latvian High School program above and beyond his normal academics at Portage Northern.
Athletics have always played a big role in Nicholas’s life. His older brother Jonathan plays for the University of Michigan. Nicholas thanked, “My brother for his advice, guidance and friendship.” One of Nicholas’ best memories is during his sophomore year, “when the Huskies made the 2010 playoffs and I had the opportunity to move up to the varsity for the first game and play with my senior-class brother.” Nicholas was the only junior varsity player to play in that game.
