Neal was an honor roll student who maintained a 3.65 GPA while earning his school’s Bronze, Silver and Gold Academic awards. He was also a French Academic Award winner and participated in a mentoring program that tutored elementary students. Neal was an Academic All Conference honoree and a three sport player. In football he played safety, defensive back, wide receiver and quarterback during his high school career. He was a two-time first team all county and all state selection. He was named MVP of the Blue Water Area Conference and collected first team all conference honors. Neal was also named All Tri City Area and Lapeer County Player of the Year. In his junior season, he made 40 catches for 1,001 yards and 14 touchdowns. In his senior year, he was 42 for 77 for 831 yards passing and rushed for 505 yards. He collected 2,072 all-purpose yards, including five kick or punt returns for touchdowns. On defense, he made 61 tackles.

Neal also played basketball and averaged 19.0 points per games while earning all county and all conference honors and honorable mention all state. He played two years of varsity tennis where he was the fourth singles state champion as a freshman and an all conference selection.

Neal thanked his mother and father for, “always supporting me in whatever I do.” He thanked his sister, Janelle, “for telling me good luck before every game.” He said, “I appreciate the coaches I’ve been blessed with throughout my football career and thank them for the work they’ve put in to make me the best player I can be.”
