Mike was a three-year varsity football player at Dearborn HS. He was moved up to varsity as a sophomore and the team made it to the State Semi-Finals. As a junior Mike was a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive lines. He played left tackle on offense and played at every spot on the defensive line. As a senior Mike was voted a team captain and again was a two-way starter. He led the Pioneers to an 11-2 record and the school’s second ever trip to the State Semi-Finals. Mike won the team leadership award and was voted the team’s MVP.

Mike also played basketball as a freshman and sophomore at Dearborn. He was on the student council his junior year. Mike had a 3.4  GPA.

Mike thanked his family, “for being there for me whenever I needed them. They were always very supportive of all the decisions I made and have provided me with anything I needed.” Mike also thanked all his coaches: Coach Mifsud, Coach Grignon, Coach Hass, Coach Short and all the other coaches that have coached him along the way. He also thanked Coach Simpson who has been his position coach for three years and said, “without him I would not be the player that I have become.” Mike thanked his teammates, “It’s a team game and without them I would not be here. I am at the All Star game representing my teammates and the Dearborn Pioneers.”
