Michael Steinhauer

Defensive Line

Michael is the son of Marty and Nancy Steinhauer He has an older brother, Jacob (19), and younger brother, Collin (15). He said, “I am grateful for the support of my large extended family and friends.” 

Michael started playing football in seventh grade for the Beach Middle School team in Chelsea. It was there that Michael found his love for football. He played tight end in seventh and eighth grade and moved to a defensive tackle in high school.  In his freshman year, Michael was moved up to JV and as a sophomore played on the varsity team.  He finished his senior season with 74 tackles (12 for loss), 7 sacks, 2 interceptions of 58 yards and 25 yards (both for touchdowns) and 1 blocked field goal. Coach Brad Bush stated “he was the guy every offense was aware of his location. Michael just turned age 17 during the season so he has a lot of growth potential in him.”  In addition to football, Michael played varsity basketball and baseball for the Chelsea Bulldogs.  

As well as playing on the East All Star Team, other honors Michael received were, First Team SEC White Division, All League, All Area, AnnArbor.com Dream Team, Washtenaw County Dream Team, All State Special Mention, Detroit Free Press All State Dream Team, and Detroit Free Press Top 25 Players. 

Michael thanked his family, “including aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents for their never ending support.” He thanked, Head Coach Brad Bush “for his tireless commitment to Chelsea football, defensive line coach, Jari Brown for believing in me and making the game fun, and strength and conditioning coach, Adam Taylor, for pushing me to limits I didn’t know existed.”  According to Michael, “It’s that support that has been instrumental in making me the player and person that I am today.” Michael also thanked his teammates, “for the memories that have been created both on and off the field.”  

Michael willattend and play football at Central Michigan University.
