Matt Smitherman was a two year varsity player at Westland John Glenn. He was the starting quarterback for the Rockets in his senior year. Matt helped lead the Rockers to an 8-1 regular season record and a city championship. John Glenn qualified for the playoffs and ended the season at 9-2.
Matt had 300 carries and rushed for 2094 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was a captain, an All Conference selection and a member of the Detroit Free Press All State team.
Matt will continue his education at Grand Rapids Junior College where he will also play football.
