Matt was the noseguard for the 2004 Division 1 State Championship Rockford Rams. He lettered two years and has played organized football since the fifth grade. Matt was named Advance Newspapers All Area Honorable Mention in 2004. He was voted Most Valuable Defensive Lineman by his teammates. He finished fourth in tackles for the team with 53.5, second in sacks with 4.5 and second in creating negative yardage with 37. He also blocked a PAT and had nine quarterback pressures.

 

Matt wrestled heavy-weight and lettered one year for the Rams.

 

Matt thanked his parents for, “showing up and supporting me no matter where we played and regardless of the weather.” He also thanked his coaches for, “giving me the opportunities.” He gave a, “big thanks to the whole town of Rockford that always gave us large crowds of fans. Finally, thanks to a group of guys I will never forget, my teammates. We can all look back to 2004 and remember the road to the state championship. I’ll never forget you guys.”
