At the end of his sophomore season, Mason was brought up to varsity for the state playoffs. After his senior season, Mason participated in the largest kicking competition in the nation, Chris Sailer’s National Kicking event in Las Vegas. This event hosted more than 300 kickers, and Mason won the kickoff competition against the nation’s top junior college and high school kickers. He was ranked 22nd in the nation by Rivals and received 12 offers to play college football.  In the end, he chose Miami University to continue his career.

In addition to playing football, Mason carried a 4.1 GPA. He was a member of Eisenhower’s National Honor Society and an Eisenhower Valedictorian.  Mason was also selected as a member of the Macomb Area Conference All Academic football team in ‘08 and ‘09.  In his senior year Mason was selected to the All State Academic football team.  He also was a member of the varsity lacrosse team at “Ike”.

Mason thanked his family for their support, love, and sacrifices.  He also acknowledged his kicking coach Chris Sailer. Mason felt that Chris positioned him to become a Division 1 college kicker.  He also thanked his quarterback coach Joe Youngblood and all of his high school coaches.  He commented that his teammates at Eisenhower meant everything to him and Ike football will be his best memory of high school.  Additionally, Mason thanked Coach Haywood at Miami for having confidence in him and offering him a spot with the Redhawks.  Finally, Mason thanked “God,” and said, “through Jesus Christ anything is possible.”
