Marcus Winston

During his four years at Sexton High School Marcus earned 12 varsity letters. In his four years as a varsity football starter Marcus made All Conference three times, All Area twice, Dream Team once, and All State Honorable Mention twice. Marcus tallied more than 291 tackles as a middle linebacker, had seven interceptions, forced 17 fumbles, and scored five defensive touchdowns. Marcus was named in the Detroit Free Press Fab 50 list, as well as being Blue Chip, Who’s Who among Student-Athletes, and CNN All American Midwest Team.

 

Marcus was a four-year varsity basketball player as well. He received All ­Conference honors three times, All Area three times, and All State Special Mention once. Marcus participated on the varsity baseball team for two years as well as the varsity track team where he ran the 100 meters, 400 meter relay, and threw the shot put.

 

Marcus thanked his family, “for all their love and support,” his teammates for their hard work and dedication, his coaches for all their wisdom and patience, and most of all, “God, for without Him nothing is possible!” He also said, “Thanks Big Red family for all that you have given me these last four years. Sorry to say that it is time for me to move on but you guys have made my last four years unforgettable, and priceless. I can’t express my gratitude, I love you guys and good luck in the many years to come.”
