Dong Kim is the son of Young O. Kim and Young K. Kim. He has one older brother, Billy, and one older sister, Sara. He moved to the US in 1999 when he was four years old.

Dong began his football career during his sophomore year of high school when one of his classmates told him to kick for the football team. Immediately, Dong began kicking in his free time and soon realized he had potential to make an impact. During his junior year, Dong helped his team to their first playoff win in 25 years. During his senior year, Dong was considered a “long range weapon’” for Coach Wallace. Dong connected on a 52 yard field goal (breaking the school’s record) and kicked a 37 yard field goal to win his Homecoming game. Dong was a two-year starter for the varsity football team and also played freshman and JV soccer.

Dong not only helped his football team, but also the people around him. He has been an active volunteer, volunteering many hours at the Ingham County Medical Center and raising over 3,000 dollars for a school in Meloj, India.

Dong said, “I thank my linemen, snapper and holder for such a fantastic job this year. Many thanks to my friends, family, coaches, and my Chieftain Family for their support throughout the years. Also, special thanks to Dick Comar, Arv Petit and Pat Fewins.”
