Jourdyn began playing football with the YMCA Big Reds. He continued on to play tackle with the Eastside Spartans under coach Kahlil Wasson. Coach Wasson also coached Jourdyn at Kappa Express along with Coach Cannon and Coach Sam McGhee. At Sexton High School he gained instruction from Coaches Mims, Milton, and Dan Boggan. During his senior year, Jourdyn had 17 catches for 501 yards and six touchdowns. He played JV two years and was pulled up to varsity during the districts in his sophomore season.

    Jourdyn started running track when he was in the seventh grade and also ran AAU. In 2006 Jourdyn medaled in National Junior Olympics in the pentathlon. Throughout his high school experience Jourdyn was very active. He was class president for two years, was crowned 2010 winter homecoming king and scored a 29 on his ACT. He has run varsity track for four years, running hurdles and relays. Jourdyn has played basketball for four years, two years on junior varsity and two years varsity, where he was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.

Jourdyn said, “First I thank God for all my talents and blessings. I am the young man I am today because of Him.” He thanked his mother “who has always been there for me and has been my biggest supporter and fan. Words cannot express my love and gratitude for her.” He also thanked his brothers, grandparents and aunt for “supporting me at all my events.” He thanked all his coaches “that have played a part in my life and helped me to become the athlete I am today. In conclusion, he thanked his “church family for their continued prayers and support.”
