Joe Ostman is the son of Joe and Angie Ostman. He has one sister, Abbey (15).

Joe began playing Junior Saints football at age 12. Joe was a four-year starter for the St. Ignace Saints varsity football team. He played linebacker, defensive end and tight end. He was a two way starter by his sophomore year. Joe was a co-captain junior and senior years. For two consecutive years, he led the Saints to an undefeated regular season and state semifinals birth. In his senior year, Joe led the team in tackles (144), receiving yards (638), and receiving TD’s (9). Over his career, Joe accumulated a total of 444 tackles and 18 sacks. Joe was First Team AP All State Linebacker, First Team Detroit Free Press Linebacker, All Upper Peninsula Dream Team Linebacker, Upper Peninsula Defensive Player of the Year, All Conference Player of the Year, All Conference First Team Linebacker and Receiver, and All Area First Team Linebacker and Receiver.

In addition to football, Joe wrestled for four years and ran track and field for four years. Joe was a three-time Individual State Champion on the wrestling mat and now holds five different individual school records: Most Consecutive Victories, 141; Most Pins in a Season, 45; Most Wins in a Season, 57; Highest Career Win Percentage; 94%; and Highest Season Win Percentage, 100%. Joe was a member of the National Honor Society and maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout high school.

Joe has received a scholarship to play football at Central Michigan University. He is undecided on what he will major in at this point.

Joe thanked, “my parents and sister for supporting me in everything I do and always helping me to be the best I can be. I never would have had the motivation that I have today in athletics or academics without their guidance. I thank my grandpa, grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have been some of my biggest fans and supporters throughout my career.” He thanked, “Head football coach, Marty Spencer, who has helped me improve each year. Practices are high energy with great position drills. He has also helped me and other teammates train physically, putting us through quick feet drills and great workouts in the weight room to improve our strength. He also thanked, “Phil Christensen for all of the support and instruction he has provided me with over the years.”
