Joe began playing Gladiator football when he was eight years old and achieved his ultimate high school football goal as a two-year starter on the varsity team. During his junior year, he helped the Gladiators to win both district and regional championships. His team honored him that same year with both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards, as well as the infamous “Mars Bar Award.” In 2006, Joe broke the school record for receiving yardage with 474 yards, averaging more than 20 yards a catch. At defense, was in on 52 tackles, (17 solo) and had 4 sacks. In 2007, Joe was honored again by his team, receiving Offensive Player of the Year. He caught 22 passes for for 450 yards as a tight end and led the team with 80 tackles as a middle linebacker.

Joe also was a thre-year starter on the varsity basketball team as a power forward. In both 2006 and 2007, the team was proud winners of the district championship title.

Joe thanked, “everyone that has made this possible, but especially my parents for always being there for me.” He said, “I will never forget my coaches who pushed me to be the best I could be and finally my teammates for standing beside me and having the greatest of times.”

He said, “I look forward to the excitment and adventures of college, and hope to make new football memories.”
