James started playing football in seventh grade for Iroquois Middle School. He began his career as a quarterback and remained in that position his entire career. As a senior, James passed for 2,100 yards, completed 25 touchdown passes, and had a completion rate of 63%. He was All County first team, All East First Team, All State First Team, and led his Macomb Dakota Cougars to their first Division 1 State Championship.

James also played basketball for four years and baseball for two years. He was voted All County in basketball his senior year and helped the basketball team win back-to-back District Titles. He was also All County his sophomore year in baseball.

James thanked, “God for everything he has provided me.” He also thanked his Mom and Dad for all their help and encouragement. He thanked his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, “for all the support throughout the years.”
