Jamar started playing football as a cornerback and running back in the ninth grade. He was moved to the varsity squad as a junior and played running back and quarterback for the rest of his high school career. Jamar was named team MVP in his senior year after the team won the Division 4 State Championship at Ford Field. Jamar set several records in his senior season at Marshall: He is the season rushing yards leader with 2,700 yards, the season rushing attempts leader with 320 carries and the season TD record holder with 35. He also set a defensive record with eight interceptions.

Jamar also player four years of basketball  and ran two years of track. In basketball he was all conference and in track he set the school record in the 300 IM hurdles with a time of 39.2. He placed 13th in the 300 hurdles at the state track meet as a junior.

Jamar thanked his mother and father for “providing all those things necessary so that I could participate in sports and for supporting me throughout my high school career.” He thanked Marshall High School “for providing me with a good education and a good athletic program.” He thanked the Marshall coaching staff “for believing in me and giving me a chance to shine.”

Jamar will attend Grand Rapids Junior College and plans to transfer to Western Michigan University.
