6’ 181
High School Coach: Greg Hudkins
High School, Class: East Kentwood, A
College: Western Michigan University

Jamaal played as a freshman at Grand Rapids Creston HS until a move transferred him to East Kentwood HS. As a sophomore, Jamaal led his JV team in rushing. Asked to move up to the varsity squad early in his sophomore year, Jamaal made the decision to remain with his JV team so he could mesh with all of his new teammates for the future. In his senior year, Jamaal led his team in rushing with 1076 yards and 10 touchdowns, from the fullback position. Jamaal has played both sides of the football. He has seen considerable time at Safety and Corner, and has also returned kickoffs.

Jamaal has earned varsity letters in football, basketball and track. His dream to play football at the next level was realized when he was recruited to play for the Broncos of Western Michigan University.

Jamaal plans to pursue a degree in psychology. A consistently, steady role model to his siblings, Jamaal has also been an outstanding member of the community, serving on the Foster Care Youth Board of Kent County, as a YMCA Camp Counselor, a Steward at the Dominican Center at Marywood, and as a tutor.

Jamaal maintained a high standard of academic excellence throughout high school. He was a Rotary Student of the Month and was a member of the All Academic Team throughout his varsity career.

Jamaal thanked all of his supporters. He said, “I would like to thank my mom, Jean, for all of her love and support. She has always been there for me. She has helped me in more ways than words can express. I love you and will continue to make you proud!” He also thanked Mrs. Henry, “for sharing her wisdom with me and for helping me to realize my dreams. I especially thank Coach Jeff Bosma for his tremendous generosity, Coaches Carter and Hudkins for helping me to become the person and player that I am today.” He thanked friends, Pat Coleman, Jon Henry, Devin Jones and Raheim Oliver, “the best friends a person could ask for.” He ended by thanking, “my youngest siblings, Darius and Jasmine: Work hard and fulfill all your dreams. You will always have a special place in my heart. I love you both so much!”
