Jake starting playing football in 7th grade and became a two-year starter at offensive tackle for the Traverse City Trojans. He earned Team Most Improved in 2007 and MVP of the offensive line and team captain honors in 2008, in addition to his conference and All State recognition.
In his senior year, the team won the Big North Conference title and advanced to the play-offs in a tough game against Bay City Western. In addition, the Trojans were co-champions of the Big North Conference during Jake’s junior year.
Outside of football, Jake was honored to represent Traverse City Central High School at American Legion’s Boy’s State conference at Northwood University in June of 2007. He was also a DECA state qualifier and earned his Academic Letter all throughout high school. Jake played 2 years of varsity lacrosse and wrestled on the varsity team during his sophomore year. He enjoyed volunteering at the East Middle School wrestling camps and coaching 6th grade boy’s basketball.
Jake would like to thank his parents & brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends for their support, and for cheering him on at games through sleet and rain. He would like to thank his teammates for 6 great years and has a great appreciation for everything his coaches have done in preparing him to continue his football career at Grand Valley State University.
