Hunter is the son of Dave and Lynne Matt. He has one older brother, Andrew (20), who plays football at Wayne State and also played in the All Star football game in 2009.

 

Hunter started playing football at eight years old for the Wyandotte Indians. His sophomore year he was brought up to varsity and started all 10 games at linebacker for the Bears, led the team in tackles with 77, and had one receiving touchdown playing fullback. His junior year he started at linebacker and fullback and was elected team captain. He had 81 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble on defense, 68 carries for 431 yards and 7 touchdowns on offense. That season his team finished with a 10-1 record and the Downriver League title. His senior year he started at linebacker and fullback again, where he had 124 tackles, 1 sack and 4 forced fumbles on defense, 91 carries 744 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense. He was team captain again his senior year and helped lead his team to a 10-2 record for another Downriver League title and the school’s third district title.

 

Hunter thanked his parents, brother and coaches for supporting him through his athletic career.
