Griffin was a four-year starter for the Lake Fenton Blue Devils were he played outside linebacker, strong safety, running back, and tight end. Griffin was a two-way starter his senior year. During his junior year he led the team with 25 tackles for loss and 11 sacks in just 8 games. His senior year he led the team with 151 tackles, 19 sacks, and 31 tackles for loss and earned First Team All League Tight End while helping Lake Fenton win the Genesee Area Conference Red division on the way to winning a district title and setting the school record for wins in a season. Griffin also caught 6 touchdown passes and averaged 28 yards a catch as a senior. In 2006 he helped Lake Fenton set a school record for shutouts and fewest points allowed.
Griffin played basketball for the Blue Devils as a small forward. He also participated in baseball as a senior.
Griffin thanked his mom, dad, brothers, uncles, grandma, his teammates, and the coaching staff at Lake Fenton and “everybody that supported Lake Fenton football. Without the help from all of these people none of the things I accomplished would have been possible.”
