With his dad as coach, Forrest started playing football when he was 8 years old. After jumping from school to school in his freshman year he landed in Big Rapids for his sophomore year where he earned a spot on the varsity squad. In his junior year he became a starter and had 49 catches for 769 yards and 9 touchdowns. In his senior year he switched to quarterback where he threw for 1,127 yards and 9 touchdowns along with rushing for 1,256 yards with another 9 touchdowns. His senior year Big Rapids lost to Kingsford in overtime in the District Championship game, in the game Forrest threw for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns, ran for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns and had a 76 yard interception return for another TD.

Forrest also played basketball and baseball. In 2008, he was the starting point guard for a Big Rapids team that went 20-0 for the first time in school history. He was the starting point guard and shortstop for three years.

Forrest said, “first I thank god, for he deserves all the praise for my accolades.” He also thanked his dad for “not only being an excellent coach throughout the years, but for always being there for me like a best friend and making me the man I am today.” He thanked “my grandma and grandpa for all the blessings you have prayed over me and my mom for the unwavering support you have given me over the years.” He thanked all of his teammates and coaches that “I have ever been acquainted with throughout my unforgettable football experience, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this success with you guys (especially my linemen).”
