Upon seeing his throwing abilities Coach Walker and Coach Herrington quickly placed him at quarterback, the position he played for the rest of his career. Evan decided to play the majority of his sophomore year on the JV with his classmates, only moving to varsity for the last three games of the season. He also played at the safety and punter positions adding kicker his senior year. His senior year, his longest punt was 54 yards and he pinned in opponents 8 times behind the 20 yard line; he made 18 PATs, and as quarterback rushed for 987 yards and 10 touchdowns and threw for 938 yards and 14 touchdowns. Evan was captain for both his junior and senior years and earned MVP and All League recognition both years. He had the honor to lead his team to the school’s first playoff appearance in five years in his senior year.

Besides football, Evan was a four-year starter on the Cardinal baseball team as a pitcher and catcher and was MVP his junior year. As a three-year starter for basketball he was captain his senior year and led the team in rebounds. Evan also earned All League recognition in these sports as well.

Evan said, “I thank my parents for never missing a single game. I knew I could always look up and see them there. I thank my brother for always being there to give me helpful advice. I thank my family, friends, fans and cheerleaders as well as the community of Kingston for all the support they have shown through the years. I thank all my coaches: Bill Herrington, Matt Fields, Frank and Andy Brzezinski, Tristin Pennington, Mike Seaman, Mike McLaughlin and Jim Bruce for always being there to teach and offer encouragement. I give a special ‘thank you’ to Coach Lane Walker and Coach Carl Nicol who not only pushed me to become a better athlete and leader but for understanding me and having a big part in making me the man I am today. I thank all my teammates, for the wonderful memories, and especially to my linemen throughout the years for always looking out for me.”
