Dwight started playing football in fifth grade and the game has been part of his life since then. He was a three-year starter for the West Ottawa Panthers where he played tailback and flanker his sophomore and junior years. As a senior he also played corner back. During his senior year he was captain and rushed for over 1,000 yards.
Dwight was very involved in sports and activities at West Ottawa. He lettered once in basketball and four years in track where he qualified for the state meet each season.
Dwight said, “I thank God for blessing me with no serious injury and for blessing me with loving hardworking parents who always found a way to come and support me at events. I also thank my grandparents for coming from Chicago to see my games. My teammates and friends at West Ottawa were there through all the ups and downs which I appreciate greatly. Most of all I thank my coaches throughout the years who taught me to be strong and reach out in life for my goals.”
