Dustin was a three year starter for the Linden Eagles where he played quarterback and defensive back. His freshman year he was moved up to the varsity squad for Linden’s first playoff game and completed two passes, one to his brother. His sophomore year his team ended with a 6-3 record. In his junior year he threw for 1927 yards and 27 TD’s and had 1056 yards and 11 TD’s rushing. He led LHS to its first 9-0 Metro League title. He was unanimous First Team All Metro League quarterback and A.P. Special Mention All State. As captain, his senior year he broke his own records passing for 2593 yards and 32 TD’s and rushing for 1163 yards and 19 TD’s. He led LHS to its first 10-1 season, a second 9-0 Metro League title and Linden’s first ever district playoff win. He set a state record with six TDs in one half, while tying the record for six TD’s in a game. He earned unanimous First Team All Metro League quarterback once again along with Kiwanis Club Student-Athlete of the month among other awards. He was also named AP Class B Player of the Year.
Dustin was a four year starter on the varsity baseball team. He will graduate with a 3.42 GPA.
Dustin thanked his mom, dad, brother, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and fans for, “believing in me and supporting me.” He thanked his coaches, Dennis Hopkins, Steve Spencer, Jeff Krause, Sr. and Jr. and Coach P., “for encouraging me to always be the best I could be and for never settling for ‘good enough’.” He also thanked his teammates, “Thanks for the great memories and experiences that we shared together. Goose, Bruce, Slim, Chris, and Beans, I couldn’t have done it without you!”
