Demetrius is the son of single mother Sharron Stinson, the grandson of Carmen and John Stinson, and nephew of Shaun Stinson. He said, “My family supports me and my football career, and attends every game. My mother and uncle have never missed a game since little league.”

Demetrius was a one sport athlete in high school. His playing career started at the age of eight in little league with the Westside Steelers. There he won three championships, two MVP’s, one Defensive Player of the Year award and one Offensive Player of the Year award. In high school at Detroit Frederick Douglass, he was a three-time, thousand yard rusher, two-time All City, All State, and All Detroit First Team player. As a senior he was All State First Team at Defensive Back and Running Back and was the Defensive Captain in Division 7-8. He recorded 1,672 rushing yards, 22 TD’s, 6 sacks, 64 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 2398 all purpose yards, 598 receiving yards, and Rivals Running Back MVP. In his career he had 4,277 rushing yards, 54 TD’s, 178 tackles, 13 Interceptions, 5,157 all purpose yards, and 7 sacks. He was ranked as a “three-star” by Rivals.com, #18 player in the state and the #67 athlete in the nation. Demetrius will attend Ferris State University.

Demetrius was on the honor roll and in National Honor Society as well as the principal’s list at Frederick Douglass.

He said, “I am very thankful and appreciative of everyone who has helped me get to where I am now. I owe it all to God, my mother Sharron Stinson, and Uncle Shaun Stinson, as well as my trainers Chris Huff and John Vickers and high school coach Al Demps.” He also thanked little league coaches Ron Coleman, Marwynn Matthews and Al Thompson. he said, “They all have played great parts in my success and preparation in life as well as the game of football.”
