Damon M. Singleton was born in Detroit, Michigan to Estellita and Damon Sr. At age 11, Damon moved to Wyandotte, Michigan with his mother Estellita Sobush and his step-father John who eventually introduced him to the game of football. Damon has twin brothers, Nicholas and Antonio. He also has other close family in the area supporting him in his dream of playing football at the next level.

Although Damon played on both sides of the ball for his high school team, it was early on in his career that he realized his love for defense. With a combination of speed and power to go along with a strong competitive drive, Damon shined statistically on the varsity team. He helped his team win the League Championship in 2012 and 2013 (an undefeated season), a District Championship in 2012 and 2013 and Regional Championship in 2012. Damon was the winner of the 2013 Coaches Award. According to Head Coach Ron Adams, “Damon defends the run and the pass as well as any player I’ve coached. He is a big reason why our defense had four shutouts this season.”

Along with playing football and maintaining a 3 point plus grade point average, Damon played varsity basketball where he was named All League and received the Bear Award in 2012. Damon also excelled in track and field where he was named All League three years in a row, received the award for most points scored in 2013, and was part of a relay team which broke two high school records.

Damon thanked his mother for, “being at EVERY event in my life (and for being the loudest)”. He thanked his step-father who, “pushed me and encouraged me to always do better”. Damon also thanked his dad for, “always being supportive”. Damon further thanked his coaches saying, “They have instilled a sense of pride, discipline, and respect in me”. Finally he thanked his teammates, friends, family, and the Wyandotte community for their constant support.
