Damon is the son of Corine Rose and Damon Knox Sr. He has two sisters, Tondalayo (21) and D’Asia (12) and one brother, D’Andis (17). He is a member of the Bethel Full Life Center Church.

Damon began playing football for the Port City Football League when he was seven years old. He played in the little leagues until he reached Steele Middle School, where he played defensive end in his 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years. He played defensive end at Muskegon High School. He was moved up to the varsity team when he was in the 10th grade. His 10th grade year was big because his team went to Ford Field and won the title: Division 2 State Champs 2008, under the coaching of Tony Annesse. In his junior year (2009), he had 102 tackles, 28 solo, 2 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. He also made the All Area 2009 and All OK Red 2009 Honorable Mention. In his senior year, he played under the coaching of, Shane Fairfield and recorded 112 tackles, with 17 resulting in losses including four sacks, and 12 pass break-ups and made the OK Red All Conference 2010 Team, 2010 West Michigan All Star football team and All State 2010 Honorable Mention. 

In addition to football, Damon played basketball in his freshman and senior years. He also participated in track and field in his freshman and sophomore year, earning two letters. 

Damon will attend Michigan State University on an athletic scholarship. Damon said, “First I give all honor to God for everything he has done for me in my life. I give very special thanks to my mom and dad. They were there making sure I was where I needed to be to get things done and make it to where I am today. I thank my family, friends, and community for proudly supporting me and the team every game. I thank my football and basketball teams and Coaches Fairfield, Annesse, Koziak, Ego, Poole, Sandford, Loudermill, and all the Port City coaches for their support throughout my career.” He gave “special thanks to the Athletic Director, Arthur Duren, Shane Fairfield, and Terri Clock for their support during the recruiting process”. He thanked his school trainer, Marcus Schillaci, “for keeping me in shape” and his tutor, Molly Christopherson, “for keeping me on top of my grades through the process.” He finished by thanking “everyone for their continued support.”
