At the height of his career as a senior, he started as right guard and moved to center in the second game. Offensively, during his senior year, he was named First Team All State and First Team All Conference. He also started as an outside linebacker and was moved to defensive tackle in his second game. He received First Team All Conference at that defensive position. His team named him Most Valuable Lineman two years in a row. He was also named a captain his senior year.

Cody has also received recognition as a varsity basketball player, varsity track participant, and an active member of the Centreville FFA chapter. In basketball he played the center position, and in track he competed in the shot put and discus events.

Cody thanked his parents for, “being behind me all the way through high school.” He also thanked all his friends for supporting and cheering him on through everything he has done. “I couldn’t have done it without all of you.” He thanked, “most of all,” his coaches, Coach Reardon, Simonson, Northrop, Lamb, Matt Keim, Bill Keim, Dove, Golden, and Smith, “for giving me the opportunity to show everyone what I could do.” He also thanked the athletic training staff for helping him get back on the field or the court after minor injuries, and “I couldn’t thank James “Doc” Lioy enough for all the training and hard work that he has put me through and all the advice. I really couldn’t have done anything without the help and the encouragement of the coaches and athletic trainers.”
