Coach Giannone graduated from Warren Cousino High School. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Education from Wayne State University, and Master of Education degree from Saginaw Valley State University in Administrative Leadership.

Mike will start his 34th year of coaching high school football in 2012. He has had stints at Warren Cousino, Warren Mott, Chippewa Valley and is presently at Macomb Dakota, where he also teaches health, and physical education. He has served in the Chippewa Valley School District for the past 26 years.

Hired in 1996, Giannone became the second football coach in Dakota’s history, In his 14 years as the Cougars Head Coach, Mike’s teams have made the play-offs 12 times. He has a career record of 120 wins – 42 losses. His teams have won 5 Macomb Area League Championships, 8 District Championships, 5 Regional Championships, were named Macomb County Team of The Year 3 times, and won back to back Division 1 State Championships in 2006 and 2007.

Some of Mike’s coaching honors include, 3 time Macomb County Coach of the Year, 8 time Michigan High School Regional Coach of the Year, 3 time Detroit Free Press All Metro East Coach of the Year, 2 time Detroit News All Metro Coach of the Year, 2006 Michigan High School Coaches Association Coach Of The Year, 2006 Detroit News Dream Team Coach of the Year, 2007 Michigan Division 1 Coach of the Year and 2007 Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

              Mike and his wife Dottie reside in Clinton Twp. They have three daughters, Laura (24), Barbara (23) and Tara (20).
