Chukwuma (Chukes) is a towering figure who anchored the offensive line at Southfield. A large player with great athleticism, Chukes became one of the state’s top recruits after only playing organized football his junior and senior years. Chukes started 15 games in his two seasons with the Blue Jays. He was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, ESPN/Scouts.com and 247Sports.com and was ranked as 11th best recruit in the state of Michigan, was 67th best recruit at his position, ranked 20th on the Detroit News Blue Chip Top 60 Recruit List and ranked 29th on the Detroit Free Press Top 50 Recruit List Chuckes earned All America in 2013 at the O-D All American Bowl in Orlando. He was named Second Team All State by the Detroit News and was named All Metro North and All Oakland County Second Team. Chukes turned down offers from BCS programs such as Iowa, Florida, Arkansas and Virginia to stay in state and play at Western Michigan University.
