Chris began his football career at the age of eight in the Portage Rocket Football program coached by head coach Scott Cook and known as the Wolverines. Chris played running back and during this time Chris would help lead his team to the championship game. That was played at Western Michigan University’s Waldo Stadium. The Wolverines would go on to win the championship title 38-6 and Chris was very proud of this achievement as it would be the beginning of a very successful high school football career.

In high school Chris played free safety, wide receiver and running back and was coached by head coach Pete Schermerhorn. Chris started his varsity career as a sophomore after he was moved up for the playoffs. Chris then went on to become a three-year varsity starter for the Huskies where he achieved many accomplishments. His junior year was one of his best after breaking a school record 9 interceptions that year he also had 63 tackles (six for loss), 27 receptions for 427 yards and two touchdowns. Chris also returned kickoffs and punts. Chris went on to receive many awards including Associated Press first team All State as a free safety. He was also named All Conference first team and All Area first team. Chris was also voted Defensive Player of the year twice by his teammates and captain of the team.

In addition to football Chris has also played four years of basketball and was on the varsity track team for four years.

Chris thanked, “God first and foremost for giving me my athletic abilities because without him in my life I would not be where I am today. Also I would like to thank my mom and dad for always believing in me and pushing me to always do my very best. Thank you so much for your guidance, love and support. I also give a very special thanks to my Head Coach Pete Schermerhorn, Coach Miller, Coach Bytwork, Coach Putnam, Coach Mcguire and Coach Marshall for helping me to excel in my football career. I also thank my family and friends for all of their support. I give a very special thank you to all of my teammates for all the great memories. I am going to miss playing with you guys.”
