Brett was a four-year, varsity letter winner in football. His freshman year, Brett was moved up to varsity to kick during the last two games of the season. His first field goal of his varsity career was a 45 yarder. As a sophomore, junior and senior, Brett started at outside linebacker, quarterback, and handled all of the kicking and punting duties for the Chieftains. He is part of six state records in Michigan. His records include the third longest field goal in the state at 55 yards, the most field goals in a season with 13 and the most field goals in a career at 33. Brett earned All Conference and All State Honors each of his three varsity seasons. He was also part of the All Area Team in his junior year.

Brett was the starting catcher on the varsity baseball team for all four years. He led his team in home runs and doubles every season. Brett earned All Conference Honors both his sophomore and junior years. Brett was also a member of the National Honors Society for two years. In NHS, he did numerous community service projects including mentoring middle school children, raising money for Pennies for Patients, collecting cans for a local food drive, and raising money for a local family.

Brett thanked all of his family members and “most importantly” his mom, dad, sister, and grandparents. He thanked his teammates, Coach Stanger, and the rest of the Chieftain Coaching Staff as well as the Chris Sailer Staff. He thanked the Western Michigan Football Coaching Staff, especially Coach Fleck and Coach Gibboney. Lastly, Brett thanked “all of the local businesses and families in the community that have helped me get where I am at today.”
