Anthony began playing flag football at the age of 6. At age 7 he started playing tackle football with the Southside Panthers, where he earned MVP three times and MVP of defense four times. Anthony played one year of freshmen football and three years of varsity football in which he was selected 1st Team All Conference and All Area for two years at defensive back, and one year at running back. Anthony and the Sexton Big Red football team were district champions back to back in 2010 and 2011. Anthony also was appointed as team captain. His senior year, he was featured as the 1 running back, but played several other positions including quarterback, receiver, kicker, free safety, and corner. Anthony also played on special teams (kick return and punt return). Anthony was voted MVP by his peers after his 2011 season. He broke a school record for the most rushing yards in a single game, 367 yards (vs. East Lansing). That game gave him the recognition of TV 6 News which awarded him Team Sports Player of the Week. Anthony was also selected by the Lansing State Journal as a member of the All Area Dream Team. The A.P. and Detroit Free Press awarded Anthony with honorable mention (running back) and the Detroit Free Press awarded him with All State Team Captain Division 3/4.
