Andrew is the oldest of parents Helmut and Beth. He has two younger siblings, a brother Mitchell (15) and a sister Abigail (11).

Andrew started playing organized football in the fifth grade at age 11. He played for his school team, the Everest Academy Mountaineers. When Andrew moved to high school at Notre Dame Prep, he started at wide receiver on the JV team as a freshman. It wasn’t until injuries plagued the team that he started on defense too. At the start of his sophomore season he was moved up to the varsity and started at outside linebacker. Over the course of the season, Andrew switched positions multiple times eventually ending up as a defensive end. He played his remaining two seasons at defensive end on a stout defense that posted four shut-outs over two seasons and compiled a 19-3 record. He said, “I will remember my senior season as my favorite because of the friendships I made with my fellow seniors, the multiple pregame rituals with friends, and my 17.5 sacks.” For his efforts during his senior season, Andrew was awarded the Defensive Fighting Irish Award, his team’s defensive MVP award.

In addition to playing football, Andrew played four seasons of basketball (two on varsity) and four seasons of lacrosse (three on varsity, two as a captain). Andrew was awarded All Academic honors during his senior basketball season and was All-League and All-State for lacrosse his junior year. Andrew also played AAU basketball and Club lacrosse during the spring and summer.

Andrew said, “First and foremost, I thank my parents for everything they have done for me. They have been the best fans and my biggest motivators to strive to be the best person, athlete, and son I can possibly be.” He thanked his siblings “who have sacrificed being with me so that I could pursue my athletic endeavors.” He thanked all his coaches over the years. “I couldn’t have become the athlete I am today without them, especially Coaches Zimm and Glennie for recognizing my potential and pushing me to be my best every day.” Finally, Andrew thanked “all his brothers who went through hell with me every day on the field to achieve the success we had dreamed of.”
