Our first day of hitting changed my whole perception on the sport.” His first hit, “was a big hit and I loved the way I felt and it sounded. After that, I fell in love with the game.” Alonzo played little league until he was too old to play. In high school, he started his sophomore year playing corner. His junior year was “my standout year.” He had 7 interceptions, 69 tackles, 17 pass breakups, 3 touchdowns, and 497 yards rushing. After his junior season he had several college offers. In his senior season he played linebacker, quarterback, running back and wide receiver.  He ended with 23 touchdowns, 2000 yards, 89 tackles, and 3 interceptions. His team’s record was 5-4. Alonzo led the team two the playoffs but lost in the district championship to Allen Park. For his style of play, Alonzo was given the nickname “Mr. Excitement”.  He ran track for three years and played varsity football for three years. He plans on playing football for Central Michigan.

Alonzo thanked, “My dad because he has stood by my side my whole life and never gave up on me. I thank my mom, sister, uncle Nate, Reggie Wynns and the Rising Stars family, and the rest of my family for their support.” He also give thanks to the Eastside Falcons organization, Thurston High School, “all the coaches that have coached me and all of my brothers (teammates).” He gave a special thanks to, “My #1 fan, my brother. He is the reason I kept pursuing football after he passed, because he always used to tell me that I would be the one that does big things in our family and I don’t want to let him down. Thank you to Central Michigan and the coaches and players for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level.”
