Team Captain and three year varsity starter in both basketball and football, Connor led the U of D Cubs in both Tackles (as Defensive End) and Touchdowns (as Tight End) in his senior year and was voted the MVP Offense and the MVP Defense by his teammates.
When signed by the University of Cincinnati to play tight end for the Bearcats in their 2005 premier season in the Big East Conference Barwin said, “Words are not enough to express my appreciation to Coach Merchant and all my coaches, teammates and the entire U of D family for their guidance, friendship, help and support over the years which paved the way for me to have the opportunity to play NCAA football. I hope you can all attend some of our games and maybe even a bowl game before I graduate! I also want to thank all of our hard hitting opponents in the Metro-Detroit Catholic Central Division, and MHSAA opponents. The competition and your class makes us all better.”
