Academic All State Individual Award
General Guidelines for selection of Individual Academic All-State Awards
In order to be nominated for the Individual Academic All-State Award:
The player must be a senior.
The player must be a starter or key reserve on the varsity football team his senior year. To be considered, the player should play most of the snaps on either offense or defense. A placekicker may also be nominated if they are used on a regular basis (kick a great majority of PAT’s, and attempt FG’s).
The player must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The player must have a minimum composite score of 25 on the ACT.
The player’s head coach must be a current member of the MHSFCA. A current membership list and application is available at www.mhsfca.com.
**TWO players may be nominated per high school, provided they both meet the automatic standards for First Team Academic All-State. Each school is always permitted to nominate one player, provided he meets the minimum standards.
The player will be selected to the Individual Academic All-State Team using following criteria:
Up to 100 points awarded for GPA
Up to 100 points awarded for class rank.
Up to 100 points awarded for ACT.
Any player with a score of 295 or better is automatically on the First Team, where there will be at least 24 named.
In order for a school to nominate two individuals, both nominees must meet each of the following criteria:
Unweighted GPA of at least 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Ranked in top 5% of their class.
Composite score on the ACT of at least 32.
If a school is nominating only one individual, they do not have to meet these criteria, only the minimum standards listed at the top of this page.
Please complete the nomination form and enclose a current HS transcript.
THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS NOVEMBER 15.
