2013 Michigan High School Football All-Star Game Players to Visit/Volunteer at Senior Apartments.
High school football players that will play in the 33rd Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) East-West All Star Game will visit with residents of the Marsh Ridge Senior Apartments in Grand Rapids on June 19 and 20.
The players will visit with and play football trivia with residents and also pitch-in to help spruce up the grounds of the facility. The visits are part of the event’s Game-Week experience for the players as they practice and prepare for the All Star game on Saturday June 22 at 2 p.m. at Arend D. Lubbers Stadium on the campus of Grand Valley State University. The game will feature 88 of the best high school players in the state as selected by the 2013 MHSFCA All Star Game coaching staffs.
“The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association strives annually to provide the East-West All Star Game players with a memorable week-long experience that includes connecting with the local community,” said Jim Sparks, 2013 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game chair and head football coach at Clawson (Mich.) High School. “The visits to the Marsh Ridge Senior Apartments will offer a meaningful off-the-field connection for the East and West players with the local community.”
NOTE: media members are welcome to accompany the players on the visits. The East players will be at Marsh Ridge from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, and the West team players will be at the same facility on Thursday, June 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Marsh Ridge Senior Apartments are located at 470 Marsh Ridge Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
The MHSFCA East-West All Star Game will air live on FS Detroit. The Michigan Regional Sports Network will carry the game live on internet radio at www.mrsn.us.
All Star game tickets are $5 in advance at www.mhsfca.com and $10 per ticket at the gate on game day.
